Every year, on October 15, World Student's Day is commemorated. The day commemorates the birth anniversary of India's former president, Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. On October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was born.
Abdul Kalam, affectionately known as the People's President, was a committed teacher, so much so that he returned to school the day after his term as President ended. He sparked the imaginations of ordinary people, particularly young people.
Throughout his scientific and political careers, he saw himself as a teacher and expressed delight in instructing students. He was so passionate about teaching that he died in 2015 while giving a lecture at IIM Shillong, where he had a heart arrest.
Since 2010, the United Nations Organization (UNO) has designated October 15 as World Student's Day to honor Dr. Kalam's contributions to education and his pupils. 'Learning for people, planet, prosperity, and peace was the theme of last year's World Students' Day.
On July 27, 2015, while delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong, Kalam, an intelligent academician and source of motivation for many, died of heart arrest. His words and quotes are still relevant today and inspire many people
