Union Cabinet 2020 vision to end HIV, AIDS epidemic nod bill 2014

 

 

Cabinet’s amendment in HIV and Aids bill 2014, no disclosure of HIV status, unfair treatment with regard to employment 

The Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra modi has approved a HIV and AIDS bill 2014.

The bill was signed to safeguard the rights of the persons suffering from HIV against discrimination, employment, health care services, educational institutions etc.

No person can be compelled to disclose HIV status as per amendment in HIV and AIDS bill 2014

According to the bill, no person can be compelled to disclose his HIV status without the consent of the person or by the court of law.

The central and the state government are required to take measures to prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS, facilitates welfare programmes for women, lay guidelines for the care and treatment of HIV.

 HIV, as compared to the last decade has decreased and now reached to the extent of around 21 lakh people living with HIV in India.

This bill would definitely be advantageous to the National AIDS control Programme and will help them to arrest new infections and to achieve the target Ending the Epidemic by 2020.
