Pi Day is celebrated annually on 14th March (Date Format 3/14) around the world, by eating fresh-baked pies and learning about Geometry, Mathematical Constants, and Irrational numbers.
Pi (π) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant, the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, which is approx (3.14159...) followed by trillion digits beyond its decimal point.
As in Pi (π) value (3.14159...) 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant digits of (π), so as Pi Day is marked on 3rd (March) /14th (Date) of a year.
Pi Day was first invented & organised by an American Physicist, Larry Shaw, "Prince of Pi" in the year 1988 at the San Francisco’s Exploratorium in California, United States.
In 2009, the United States House of Representatives supported the designation of Pi Day.
Pie Day is celebrated worldwide by eating freshly baked pies and learning about Geometry, Mathematical Constants, and Irrational numbers. Many countries declared this day as a national holiday and various restaurants and bakery around the world provides discount and offers on this day.
The celebration of Pi Day seems significant and appropriate as 14th March also marks the birthday of renowned scientist & theoretical physicist Albert Einstein. He was born on 14th March 1879 in Germany.
Albert Einstein gave the world his universe theories like formula E=mc², which tells us that mass and energy are related to one another.
