Government of India makes Aadhaar mandatory for opening a new bank account. There is a deadline of 31st December 2017 to link existing bank accounts with aadhaar number. Bank account will get void failing to link bank account with aadhaar.

Aadhaar card is now mandatory for application for Pan Card and filing Income Tax return.
All nationalised banks asking their account owners to update their eKYC with Aadhaar number. Account holders can visit their branch for filling form to get their Aadhaar linked to their bank account.
People can also use online services and bank mobile app to link their aadhaar number with bank account using OTP service with their registered mobile number.
