State Bank of India has introduced Silchar as its 5th Zone in North East and opened its administrative office.
This office will provide banking facilities to Mizoram, Tripura and Manipur along with the Barak Valley.
Earlier, Silchar was under Guwahati zone, so then it was very difficult to file complaints and issues of customers, therefore this zone was established.
The other four zones are Guwahat, Shillong, Dibrugarh and Jorhat.
Presently, State Bank of India has 736 banks, 3000 ATMs across North east region and 13,000 customer service stations to solve the problems of its customers.
A donation of Rs.11 lakh was also given to the Director of Cachar Cancer Hospital Silchar for setting up the oxygen unit at the hospital.
